The latest book by Kathy Sierra and Bert Bates on OCP Java SE exams has been doing rounds for quite some time now. Though not available at book shops in all the countries, it is available for online purchase of global as well as national online book stores.
The book is written by the most coveted writers for OCP JCP exam and major contributors to the JavaRanch website. But this time, it is the community that has given back to them.
I won the book in the promotion week of the book on JavaRanch.com and has received it recently by international courier from USA. As you opn the book, there is too much talk about the people replying to queries on JavaRanch.com forums and you start wondering who actually is responsible for writing and editing this much required book.
The first thing that I noticed is that on the contributions page its written like:
Technical Editor
JavaRanch.com
How come a website forum be the technical editor. Then you turn more pages and there is the list of people who helped authors in proof reading and editing work. Most of them are from JavaRanch.com
These are people like Deepak Bala .Devaka Cooray and Ankit Garg.
As far as the book goes here are some facts since I have read a part of it:
1) Purely Question and Answers based
2) Organized into practice exams with questions from various topics
3) No theory, its like you have practice exam of 50 questions and then answers with very brief why an option is wrong or right
4) Around 250 questions
